Well - after much searching I picked up my Miata - used 1991 limited (tan leather interioir) with 120k on it (pic to the left from the ad). She is a little worn as the age would suggest but overall in not too bad a shape.
First glances I will need to:
Swap radiator - original (which has lasted ages)
New drivers seat (leather is badly worn)
New radio (factory cd/radio/cass is dead)
New paint (bonnet is badly faded - rest is OK so this will wait)
New a/c fan (original is dead)
New Drivers side door panel
New rear tires
So I ordered the following from Ebay and eagerly awaiting delivery so I can drive.....
Radiator - went with the stock Aluminum/plastic which was $75 inc shipping. Thought about the 2" dual core but read too much about the plastic being a fuse and the dual core not being a fuse i.e. I would rather blow my $75 radiator than the head gasket seeing as I do not know much about this car.
a/c fan - got from Ebay for $54 inc shipping.
Also picked up a new thermostat - managed to shear the housing bolts in the process so I had to come up with some creative removal techniques. They were badly corroded so who knows how long they were in there for?
Also dismantled the drivers door as the power window is not working. Dismantled the window motor and the wires are all mangled - after removing the whole unit is functional but the wires are mangled so I will have to replace those. I will run to Lowes this weekend and attempt to resurrect the window.
So far:
$75 - Radiator
$54 - a/c fan
$12 - Thermostat
$18 - Coolant
$2 - bolts
$3? - Light bulb for brake light
$188 - 2 rear tires + oil change (Castrol GTX 10W30)
Total this week $352
